Privacy Policy

A Juney & Byrd policy · Effective July 2026

The short version

I built Juney & Byrd apps so that I genuinely cannot read your numbers. Your financial data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches me, I do not run analytics or trackers, and I only hold the small amount of account information needed to keep your subscription working.

What we hold

For the cloud apps, we hold your account email, your plan status (Free or Plus), and basic timestamps such as when you last signed in. That is it. Nothing else about you is readable to us.

Your data is encrypted, and we cannot read it

Everything you record in a cloud app is encrypted on your device before it syncs, using zero-knowledge encryption. All we ever store is an encrypted blob we cannot open. If you lose your recovery phrase, that data cannot be recovered by anyone, including me. That is the tradeoff for real privacy, and we tell you so plainly inside the app.

No analytics, no tracking

We do not run analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers, and we are not building a profile on you or selling anything about you. There is nothing to sell, because we cannot see it.

Payments

Hutch Plus subscription payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles your card details under its own privacy policy, and passes us only what we need to know your plan is active. Hutch Local is purchased through Etsy, under Etsy’s own privacy policy.

Email

The Hutch cloud app sends a few transactional emails to your account address, like your sign-in codes and a heads-up when your free months are about to end. These are the messages your account needs to work, so they are not optional.

Product updates, helpful reminders, and the occasional tip are strictly opt-in. They are off by default, and you turn them on yourself, either with a checkbox when you sign up or a toggle in the app’s Settings. Every one of those emails includes a one-click unsubscribe, no hunting required.

If you do opt in, your email may be added to the Juney & Byrd subscriber list, the same list as the signup form here on the website. Before you are ever actually subscribed, WordPress sends its own confirmation email that you have to click, so nobody lands on the list by accident.

Your account email is never sold or shared. And none of this applies to Hutch Local, the offline app: it never collects or transmits an email address at all.

The offline app

Hutch Local runs entirely on the one device you set it up on, with no account. It does not send your data anywhere, and I never receive a copy. The app explains its own backup and privacy details as you use it.

Backups and exports

Backups and exports are created by you and stored wherever you put them. Because your data is encrypted and yours alone, a lost recovery phrase, or a lost device without a backup, means the data is gone. I cannot recover it, because I was never able to read it in the first place.

Children

These products are intended for adults running a business or side income. They are not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If a future version ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated first, and the change will be loud, not buried.
