Privacy Policy

A Juney & Byrd policy · Effective July 2026

The short version

I built Juney & Byrd apps so that I genuinely cannot read your numbers. Your financial data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches me, I do not run analytics or trackers, and I only hold the small amount of account information needed to keep your subscription working.

What I hold

For the cloud apps, I hold your account email, your plan status (Free or Plus), and basic timestamps such as when you last signed in. That is it. Nothing else about you is readable to me.

Your data is encrypted, and I cannot read it

Everything you record in a cloud app is encrypted on your device before it syncs, using zero-knowledge encryption. All I ever store is an encrypted blob I cannot open. If you lose your recovery key, that data cannot be recovered by anyone, including me. That is the tradeoff for real privacy, and I tell you so plainly inside the app.

No analytics, no tracking

I do not run analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers, and I am not building a profile on you or selling anything about you. There is nothing to sell, because I cannot see it.

Payments

Hutch Plus subscription payments are processed by Paddle, my merchant of record. Paddle handles your card details under its own privacy policy, and passes me only what I need to know your plan is active. Hutch Local is purchased through Etsy, under Etsy’s own privacy policy.

Email

The messages your account needs, like sign-in codes, are sent through Resend, my transactional email provider, and your billing receipts come from Paddle. Marketing email is a separate, strictly opt-in thing. If you check the box in the app or drop your email on this website, you join my mailing list, which runs on MailerLite under its own privacy policy.

Marketing email is off by default, and you turn it on yourself. MailerLite sends a confirmation email you have to click before you are ever actually subscribed, so nobody lands on the list by accident, and every email after that has a one-click unsubscribe. Turning the toggle off in the app unsubscribes you too. I never add you without your say-so.

Your account email is never sold or shared. And none of this applies to Hutch Local, the offline app: it never collects or transmits an email address at all.

The offline app

Hutch Local runs entirely on the one device you set it up on, with no account. It does not send your data anywhere, and I never receive a copy. The app explains its own backup and privacy details as you use it.

Backups and exports

Backups and exports are created by you and stored wherever you put them. Because your data is encrypted and yours alone, a lost recovery key, or a lost device without a backup, means the data is gone. I cannot recover it, because I was never able to read it in the first place.

Your rights

Because the cloud apps are zero-knowledge, the only personal information I actually hold is your account email and plan status. You can ask me to show you what I have, correct it, or delete it, and I will. Deleting your account removes your email and plan record from my systems, and since your books were only ever an encrypted blob I could not read, nothing readable about you is left behind. Wherever you live, including the EU, the UK, and California, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data and to opt out of marketing at any time. Just email me at hello@juneybyrd.com.

Children

These products are intended for adults running a business or side income. They are not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If a future version ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated first, and the change will be loud, not buried.
